That's XCOM, baby!

Sorry, but really, that's been a staple of the series going back a while now. It's disgusting, and it makes for some of the most memorable gaming moments of my entire life.

P.S.
Found this on GameFAQ's
EU/EW did indeed have some weird problem with the calculations where the hit chance was 99.6%, but the UI was rounding up to 100%; if XCOM 2 uses a similar system, it's entirely possible that this is what's happening again.

If Blueblood's chance to hit without Deadeye is 117% then with Deadeye it's 99.45% which maybe is rounded up for some dumb reason?

Meh. You'd point it at your head and miss by firing backwards or something anyway.

It will probably hit some random bloke in the next building :)

Not in this XCOM where bullets aren't tracted. Maybe in Xenonauts or UFO: Extraterestrials (in that game my soldier left the shuttle and a bullet wizzed past tehm. Log read: Unknown target shoots unknown target. Alien out of LOS missed with overwatch and shot and killed alien outside LOS).

It was tongue in cheek

That one in a million situation could happen in the original X-Com. That's part of what made that game so great.

I actually remember several instances in which aliens shot their comrades. Even after 30 years.

i hated those enemy reaction shots with blaster launchers. so many failed attempts to capture a leader

Seriously, I virtually never hit shots from about 75% and below, when I should be hitting them, well, 3/4 times. One mission I payed close attention just to make sure it wasn't confirmation bias and that I wasn't just ignoring the hits and noticing the misses, and I literally hit none that were anywhere close to 70%. It's really turned me off of this game (along with some other stuff). I doubt I'll finish it.

On one mission it would mean nothing, you need to use Bayes formula to test enough time to bring the confidence to something like 99%
