These are used after the breach when your squad begins to aim at the different enemies in the room
All breach grenades need to be used with the agent next to the door. They throw those into the room, so you need to be in the 2nd position.
But sometimes the game will not allow you to use these items regardless. There's at least two missions where I noticed that I could not use my breach items (in my case it was the Holo Grenade and the Cease Fire Grenade) after I saved them up for the third and last encounter in the mission. I had a door with 4 slots, and explosive breach point with 4 slot, and a vent or sidewindow, and the game would not let me use my breach items when I tried to select them. It simply stated "Item can not be used at this breach" (or something to that effect).
It's either bugged or there is some seemingly arbitrary limit on which breach point allows these items to be used at all.
you're right. I think they tried (as in, there ARE a lot of tooltips)... but there are still a great many significant tooltips missing from the game, which makes it seem more un-intuitive than it actually is.
Well it does, but it is left to chance. When you give Terminal a breach grenade for example and put her in the second slot, the menu pops up on its own, because then she has 2 options for you to choose from. Her healing or the grenade. That happened to me right away by coincidence, that's why I "always" knew about it.
I've noticed this especially with Axiom. His yell he does when he is slot one only works if the entrance is a main door. No other entrance allows him to do his special option which is crazy.
Someone should make a mod that adds more options to more entrances. Within reason of course. No putting breaching charges on a window. lol
