-2 days for critical mission... what the point?
What is the point to give missions with "bonus" like lesser time to prepare for critical mission?

Because critical mission districts unrest keeps rising daily.

I do not know honestly looking at it now seems experimental to do them. Doing them means less time to tech up potentially meaning you could be a bit weaker. But that's just my theory at the moment until we know the games coding and how stuff actually works behind the scenes.

Yes, you go in weaker, but you also go in faster, lowering overall unrest and anarchy in the city. Those important missions, if you don't stop them, keep gaining unrest while you still have other missions to deal with. It's a risk analysis.

An oversight, game is based on Xcom2 after all and uses a doomsday tracker

Does any one know if skipping those missions effect the story in any way, I remember getting a debrief after some but hate trading story for efficient game-play sometimes. really wish this was done another way.

It's only to go faster in case unrest is screwy up. But you lose time and loot. Nice for going fast, bad for teching and training.

So do you get the debrief at a later date before the hidden mission or is that a trade off :( hope a mod changes this at some point.

Critical missions keep increasing unrest as long as they are on-going which means they will cause city unrest which is harder to bring down. So sooner you take them down, sooner you can stop the climb of the anarchy.

Yeah, as others have mentioned, the only real upside is if you need to manage Unrest. Sometimes taking -2 days mission is the right call, often it isn't.

Yeah, I hate this too. You're literally incentivized to skip some of the 'story' missions, or whatever you want to call them. Really poor design, in my opinion.

From my experience: All purple missions(including the -2 days from secret) have a derief which fleshes out more of the worldbuilding/lore about city31 and XCOM's post advent days. Outside of that, there's little incentive to do them when your city unrest is barely even maxing out more than one district at a time.

They give you a few sentence lines of extra lore, hinting at what the critical mission is. It's far from a real story filler

@T.K. That is still story and from a person that loves both story and mechanics, i hate this kind of choice
LordLancelot Apr 27, 2020 @ 12:45pm
My city Anarchy is always at zero, and unrest low in every parts. those -2 day mission hurt you.

@Sixcandy I do agree, that is story, but I rarely learned anything I didn't relearn in the actual critical mission.
