and the franchise isnt ruind
This game actually breathes more life into the XCOM universe
You clearly haven't seen all the sectoid art.
So far we have
- Flaming Hot Rod Sectoid on side of car
- My Little Sectoid / Sectoid Centaur w/ Tattoo on Butt plastered onto side of Van
- Sailor Moon Sectoid / Anime Sectoid on ad in one map.
- Sectoid Alex Jones in the Intro, granted he could also be O'Reily too, but he gives me way more of an Alex Jones vibe.
Outside of Sectoids, we also have
The infamous Viper Strip Club
A Radio ad for "BIG CRUNCH - The Cereal that Writhes!" narrated by a gruff voice - Muton probably.
Another Radio Ad for Not-Dogs, a Hot-Dog substitute made for Alien and Human consumption.
This whole game is chock full of easter eggs, you just have to look for them.
honestly, the only real difference seems to be that there are MORE memes and jokes than the previous games.
No seriously :D XCOM 2's dlc is consistently silly in aesthetic
"Burger Palace. New name, new [...], same good taste!"
Like even ignoring the whole thing about how XCOM franchise has always felt like cartoon, XCOM 2's dlc tone goes all over the place and even war of the chosen makes things more super heroics with the new units.
Chimera's squad's sense of humor is present in xcom 2 yeah. The way I see it some people like xcom being more serious(it has been semi dark at least due to the whole "enemies are mind controlled slaves and etherreals are planning to genocide humans" thing) than it has been so either they ignored all silly stuff from before or have forgotten about it due to games now being years old.
