What is the agent stat `Will` used for?
I have an agent with a Scar that reduces `Will` by 15. However, none of my agents have a visible stat called `Will`. And I suppose even if it was visible, I wouldn't know what it did since none of the stats can be hovered to provide any details on how stuff works anyways.

I am assuming it might have something to do with not panicing (I have had agents panic, but I have no idea what triggers it), or maybe resistance to psionic attacks?

I tried searching, and I can see that the XCom wiki do list a Will stat for each agent. The keyword Will is too common to find threads discussing it though.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Resistance to effects such as stunning, panic, etc.

Panic can be caused by flashbangs by enemies. Your ally may also panic when an enemy use a psionic attack.

You can see the effect of the scars on the training room.

The training room has a general blurb saying "[...] Agents who lose their will to fight can work through their trauma [...]" with the reward being: "Remove the Agent's 'Shell Shocked' (Will) scar."
I can't see anything about what it actually does. Maybe I am missing something though.

I've never had an enemy use a flashbang, or had agents panic after enemies used psionics. I have however had agents panic after I myself used Patchwork's drone to shock someone near that agent, and I have had agents just randomly panic after shooting enemies without it being any clear correlation to why that would cause them to panic. Maybe it will become more clear with more play.

Thanks for info from you both, resistance to stunning and panic (if it is common with low will) could be useful to have.

Just a guess / theory. An enemy in Grey Phoenix story (i forgot if it was the Dominator or the other one i forgot the name) panics agents adjacent to them when they die. Maybe that's what causing you the panic?

Are you using a controller? As far as I can remember, you can hover over the scar and it will give you the information you need about the scar.

To avoid scars, tho, always carry nanomedkits and never let your agent take a lot of heat and/or bleed out during a mission.

Will is your resistance to psionic attacks.
Mostly useful for the progeny sector, but it's not that important, so any scars affecting it should take the least priority to remove.

For instance, The Resonant enemies will explode when they die, causing a psionic area attack that causes panic. Some of your agents nearby may get affected.

Check the enemies here, to know what they can do.

It's a Progeny enemy, called the Resonant.

Note the key word here: die. If they're knocked unconscious rather than being killed they won't explode.

@parallaxis I am using keyboard+mouse, but I am not seeing any tooltip saying anything about stun or panic resistance. Maybe it can only be viewed while in a mission? The agent in question is mostly a legworks agent anyways, but she has nothing to do other than treating this scar and I became very curious about it.

Regarding Resonant enemies exploding with a psionic area attack, I was not aware of this. I am fighting the Progeny with Psionic enemies, so that enemy type is probably what has caused all my panics that I have not understood. The Patchwork drone probably killed a Resonant, and my seemingly random panics from shooting enemies was probably due to it as well.

Thanks!

@Lemonhead Many things in this game are cryptic and don't tell you what they do unfortunately.

This is a clone engine from Xcom 2. Presumably it serve as exactly the same purpose as Xcom2. Which is resistance to mind control, panic, stuff like that.
