World reborn will almost certainly relate to the dawn age, though we don't know if it will start or end with the dawn age beginning.
Chaos is just evil.
In this game, Darkness = trolls and troll gods (who the Riders aren't friendly with by any means, but peaceful contact is possible and the gods aren't going to through a fit at you if you decide to heal some trolls rather than killing them. Chaos = random tentacle monsters erupting in your lands, scorpion people, Uldak, who your gods will retaliate at you for dealing with.
Darkness is weird and scary. Chaos is full of eldritch abominations.
(In Glorantha, there's also a distinction between Disorder (Raven and other tricksters) and Chaos (actively corrosive to reality).)
Urox would kill you on the spot for even suggesting it, and nobody would blame him.
But in my book Light /DArkness Good/Evil fit the equation.
Chaos is just the totally opposite of rational creation, it is just transformation and destruction, doesnt mean necessary Evil as WE(according to our world standards) intend it, probably a dude with a chemistry degree at the Proust University would say that Chaos is perfectly fine and not evil, lol, what i mean is that Chaos cant make a difference between Evil and Good, and thus cant be neither of those.
Too irrational to be either good or evil.
Also thats not true, Chaos is indeed a destroyng irrational force, but it is part of reality, it only corrode the things you like the most, and you took them for reality, your own reality!
Chaos is just irrational, doenst make any sense, dont distinguish from anything, it is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of everything that exist put togheter without a purpose, i truly believe it is not evil, darkness is.
Also you are more stubborn than rock folks!
Some Orlanthi clans actually worship Argan Argar, the troll trade god, and center him instead of Orlanth or Elmal or Heler. (Ernalda, who prefers to make her husbands into kings rather than rule in her own right, is more or less universal.) Their neighbors think the Dark Orlanthi are weird, but basically accept them. (There's a clan like that in King of Dragon Pass, even! They're no worse as people than any of your other neighbors.) No one would ever be silly enough to accept a Chaos-focused clan as a neighbor!
I can't think of anyone in Glorantha who would accept Chaos but not Darkness, actually. (The Lunar Way takes both. The Lunar Way takes everyone; when they say We Are All Us, they really mean all.)
I expect Chaos to continue being a totally antagonistic force in the next game. And I wouldn't be surprised if an alliance with Darkness was possible, even required...
After all, the armies Heort and the Only Old One both fought to preserve the world in the I Fought We Won, and afterwards they became allies.
(Then again, look at my icon--I've always had a soft spot for Glorantha's trolls. Especially Argan Argar, Xiola Umbar the healer, and their followers.)
But really, I don't think any of the main elements--Fire, Storm, Earth, Water, Darkness--is good or evil. Yelm is a force for order; that doesn't make him good or bad. Orlanth is a force for change; ditto. Water seeks to drown the earth, but ultimately it's part of the world.
