How to get certain tools, buildings etc.

I'll not enjoying this game like the others. But I've got it now and I would love some help. After beating the 'boss' on Apocalypseburg I have done all but two of the missions. I tried going to a walkthrough guide, but it only told me have to complete the mission after I had the tool. For 'Airship down' I don't have the grapple gun to use. How do I get this tool? Also, for the 'Meteor Smash' I need a tool, but again how do I get this tool? (This mission is for the green and black bricks.)
On Syspocalypstar I don't have the master building to do any of the missions. Do I leave this until I have completed more of the game?
On Asteroid Field, I have no idea what I have to do. I don't know how to get up or around the wall. Any help would be great.

Just play the story missions. All tools you will get soon.

On the asteroid field you get the tool to destroy the blue and green bricks, and you will get the grapple gun on the final level.
