Taking a picture

On the jungle planet, one of the Plantimals asks for a picture of the Happy Totem. I took a picture and brought it back to the guy when I go back it doesn't prompt me to speak to him again even though I took a picture. Is there a problem with the game or did I do something wrong?

When I used the camera the rectangle didn't open up around the object I wanted to take a picture of.

Build another totem and take a picture of that, as that's how I had to do it. I got stuck for awhile on the same thing. I tried both the totem in front of the happy temple and the one down in the angry temple with no luck.
