The drop chests are separate from the rank chests. I have messed up Supernova a couple times, but I still got 2 gold drop chests at the end. If it is performance based, it is a separate measure from Rank.
I don't think they should affect whether you get a weapon or not, but I don't know for certain.
Again, RNG. You can do really well, clear the quest incredibly fast, and still only get 4 chests instead of 5, lol. I've been farming for Exceptional Refinium for my Terminus grind and we clear the missions TOO fast, so we end up skipping phases and stuff, causing us to fail 2 out of 3 objectives, usually.
Even if we all perform well though, that doesn't guarantee 5 chests to drop.
Although based off personal experience, it feels that higher rank have higher chance.
I only got 3 from S+ and the rest from S++, but that is mainly because most of my runs with S++ with random people. Total runs of proud bahamut is less than 100 (I got all before getting the kill 100 primal beasts achievement).
Again, this is personal experience, it differs from people to people and is not a datamine. If you want to know actual drop rate, I'm sure there are data mine out there.
Thanks for the spoiler brick i was days away to avoid such a spoiler with Rebirth release.....
I genuinely and I do mean genuinely hope this is a joke, but my faith in people has diminished greatly over the years.
Original game is like 3 decades old. im 23 what did you expect? i wasnt even born not everyone played ff7
don't gaslight him, he's already believing in lies as it is :^)
the drop rate is more like 1%, lol
EDIT:
Y-You do realize you could still play it after it launched, right? Please be trolling, anon...
You had plenty of time to still pick it up even after it launched, lol. I hate when people use that as an excuse, man.
"HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO PLAY IT?! IT CAME OUT LIKE 30 YEARS AGO AND I'M ONLY 23!"
Bro, what have you been doing for the rest of that time...? You've been up on your feet (and also probably playing games) for the past 10 years or so at least, lol.
Terminus weapons are crazy strong, I just learned that last night. Over coming the dread of returning to the game to farm for them for my main characters. Worst part is, after eventually getting them. I have to farm materials to fully awaken them. Whoopi fk ing doo... Still, they are really good and fun to play with.
But here is the thing. Like yourself, I too read from some troll, a particular obnoxious and cocky one, who claimed that he got them Terminus weapon easy. As long as you don't get hit by supernova. Me, having frustrated by the grinding, kinda believe what he said, but not entirely. Needless to say, last night, after much grinding. I got more than half of the Terminus weapons for my characters, including my two main characters, Siegfried and Percival. Guess what? Most of the time, I got them Terminus drops after we(me included) failed to not get hit by supernova.
Moral of the story. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Best way to learn something is to do it yourself. Also Rosetta with Terminus weapon is a beast for farming Proud Proto Bahamat. I used her to get all the Terminus weapons I wanted.
Finally, try not to be a whiny ♥♥♥♥♥ and blame others because things are not looking good for you every time you don't get what you want. Try to take some responsibility. For example, you are dumb enough to believe this bullsheet to blame others for your poor luck.
