Not doing more damage?
I recently unlocked the final stage of the weapons and I notice I'm not hitting any harder despite having almost significantly more ATK overall.

Am I missing something here?

Damage cap skill. You need to increase it to reach higher damage numbers when your attack gets too high.

I miss the early final fantasy times that 9999 was the cap. At least you could tell that you reached a cap. Reaching the cap at 3867 is just too weird and having skills and weapons to increase the cap is just annoying.

Is that whats going on? I only felt something wrong when all the number starting to be the exact same but didnt realize it was damage cap.

Yea, DMG Cap, its a stupid system that should be removed.

Instead of having a diverse assignment of sigils you are forced to use DMG Cap sigils until it's level 65, so each being lvl15 max, its 4 (and you are still short by 5 levels...). That's a minimum of 4 slots that are reserved.

That sounds very restrictive.

That's because it is. And the worst part is if you don't raise your damage cap, that means you're doing roughly 28% of your potential damage.

The worst types of upgrades in games are the ones that you simply can't ignore. And if they can't be ignored, they should be removed and become the new baseline, but that's a topic for another thread.

I wouldn't say remove it, but streamlining the numbers (more importantly, making it more clear when you're hitting dmg caps for attacks) would be good. I'd say more it feel more similar to how "limit breaking" works in a Final Fantasy game

You are damage capped. get your dmg cap stat to level 65.

Damage cap breakthroughs should have been a weapon upgrade system, not a sigil to equip.

Wish we could awaken the crafted weapons too. Just for diversity sake.
Switching to a weapon other than Terminus just halves your damage for no good reason.
You don't have to maxed out on damage cap. But yeah, damage is this game is weird. and other sigils like stun, combo boost doesn't feel effective at all. Just attack, crit hit chance, crit hit damage and damage cap. Pretty much do what you want. Don't forget stamina.

Stun is really good, stuns equal link attacks equal link time which is where you pump out most of your damage. Everyone should build some stun. Crit chance is pretty questionable as you can just boost attack so all crit and non crit hits are damage cap, making crit useless. Unless you go 100% crit and use crit damage to reach damage cap. If you are not doing either of those things and going full crit or basically ignoring crit, you are wasting damage by not having all attacks be damage capped.

The weapons are very clearly Terminus > Ascension > anything else so there's really no choice unfortunately, you use the best you have for the character but terminus will always be best and ascension second best. For narmaya i used flourithium blade until I got ascension and awakened it, still waiting on her terminus to drop.

Interesting. I don't even know about terminus. I just maxed out 4 characters ascension weapons. Good to know.
