Lucilius is one major skill check
And I love it

The only thing i'm peeved about is how much he moves around. Makes it hard for people like Vaseraga or other high commitment characters to get their hits off

Yeah. Very difficult to fight against using Vaseraga, who 1. has to charge his attacks for a couple seconds while 2. Vaseraga is a melee character, so if Lucilius teleports around you don't deal damage, or if he is about to swipe then you have to interrupt your charge and start all over again. This happens dozens of times in a row so you're not dealing any damage.

use vane for the lost paradise and his under 60% attack and the rest it just other player dodging skill

I spent most of the time attacking him using Djeeta holding block and using the pursuit combo, still was hard to get my arts to 4 regularly, and I was not able to get the feathers or swords phases of that stupid trumpet attack, but I got enough of them I was down 7k max HP by the end of the fight.

Seeing this post makes me think that I am having issues with matchmaking - I tried multiple times over the last hour to get in an Online party to fight Lucillius and was never able to find other palyers...

When I tried with my AI, I found it difficult to learn any of the phases and what to do - I spent half the fight at 1 HP because he hit me multiple times with a huge AOE that seemed undodgeable and lowered my max HP... Any advice on how to dodge that?

You can't dodge it, you have to do the 3 phases that come up with the trumpet attack, or at least do well on them, the better you do, the less max HP you lose. The 1st phase with the circles, is easiest to do, by starting as far from the center as you can, and hit one of hte colored circles there, the AI does an OK job of hitting the ones closer to the center, but you will still have to help. I was not able to do the next 2 phases, but got them close, so I did not lose that much max HP after the 1st set of labors, after that, he will pop them up occassionally, but they will no longer be back to back. I failed every single one after and was down to 7k HP at the end, but managed. It helps to melee the bastard while holding block, it will stop a ot of damage, I also had maxed improved dodge and 15 ranks of improved block.

The intermission has three phases. You need to eliminate as many adds as possible. The more adds are alive when Lucilius' cast finishes, the more your maximum HP will be reduced for the remainder of the fight.

First phase: party members need to run over circles of the same color (ie green) within a few seconds of each other to dispel them.

Second phase: slash one of the four orbs in the middle to cause it to split into feathers across the platform. Everyone needs to spread out and kill the feathers. After that, rinse repeat until all four orbs are dead.

Third phase: destroy his three weapons.

If you manage to kill all the adds before the cast bars go off, your maximum health will not be reduced.

Matchmaking is broken for most people right now

I agree, I'm a big fan of the difficulty of the fight but it's obvious it can crush some characters way more than others. I kinda wish the break animation wasn't so short so that the more committal section of the roster could actually cash in their damage properly.

I'm sure the boss was really fun and difficult the first few times for most people, even made me change a few sigils to slot in some more defensive stuff like potion horder. But once you learn the mechanics it becomes easy like every other boss. And yeah I agree with others, it's definitely more of a patience check than anything else, if you get too greedy with your attacks he'll onehot you. And that's the problem with co-op rn, too many people dying in the first phase to the slow moving orbs and sword swipes because they keep mashing and wasting their potions when someone can easily revive them during the easier phases. Then they die again during the bullet hell sections and no one can't save them because theres too much sht going on.

The amount of people trying to downplay how difficult this fight actually is, is genuinely hilarious. Like those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that are like "dark souls isn't hard because I'm good at it" after meticulously learning the ins and outs of every encounter or exploiting something to cheese because it's too hard. lmao

Then there's the people bragging about getting carried by the AI's ultra instinct ability to dodge. I really just can't with some of you people.

And with the enormous amount of people failing this compared to Pyet-A or Proto, I'd say Cygames did a fantastic job with this fight and look forward to what else they'll be adding in the future after April when the new difficulty gets added.

This comes back to an issue mentioned earlier - there are some characters that require commitment to their attacks. While they commit, they easily get comboed by the boss... And if they don't, their DPS plummets and they are not useful to the team...
