Steam Family Sharing question

I shared this game to my friend for him to try the game. My game version has DLC in it.
I think he wants to purchase his own copy of the game now (the version with no DLC).

Since he already has save file with the game version that has DLC, will it cause some sort of bug or clash with the save file that he already had, if he purchase a new one?
Or will he be inquired to make a new fresh save file?

The save file should work perfectly fine, i had a similar situation and all it did was take away the DLC items upon loading the save (it displays a system message of all the lost items after loading in). Btw if he already spend the resources/mastery points from the Special Edition he gets to keep them.
