Lost almost 40 hours save gone.

I loved this game, after almost 40 hours and maxing out a character and leveling several more my save file was suddenly gone after the recent update. Emailed the devs, found a save file from before but all their instructions to copy and paste it into folders didn't help. Sent them my save file to see if they could help restore it just to get this response...

Once it is all done, make sure to turn off auto-save in game, and make sure you manually save in-game and manually back up your saves every day to another folder as backup
