The internet has gone downhill due to the introduction of money (like most things do when they become more about making money than the actual thing). The wild west of the internet were the golden times, when mainstream still thought the internet wouldnt be here to stay and people uploaded silly stuff on youtube because they wanted to share the silly stuff they were doing first and foremost.
Nobody cares about how good their content is anymore, the only thing that matters is how well you optimize your money making algorithm for discoverability via google youtube etc.
I dont think guides are fun to begin with, I think half the fun of any game is figuring stuff out yourself but the stuff you find searching for things online the moment you leave google scholar is 90% garbage made with as little effort as possible and optimized for clicks.
It's already very difficult to believe that an 45 years old man is wasting his time on steam forum talking about how new games are better to just later contradict itself saying the old ways were better. Instead of, you know, play the game you like and not caring about other people opinions.
I always envisioned older people with more confidence on what they do and what they like, you just broke that for me.
we had that with the other one that got banned who was picking certain political topics to get strong reactions out of people
wouldn't surprise me if there's more than one AI being trained on steam forums
You don't need a guide if you have functioning braincells.
Most build guides I seen were pretty bad and not optimized.
I don't think this game really needs meta gaming guides considering the content isn't difficult.
My favorite is like, when you google a feature that doesn't exist in a game, like respecs, and then you get articles like, "How do you respec in (whatever game)?" and then it's like six paragraphs of fluff followed by, "You can't respec, unfortunately."
The internet is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. Do bots write these articles?
Anyhow, OP, like, usually that information is buried inside of games these days, but I get what you mean; I remember some of those PS1 Final Fantasy strategy guides in particular having some utterly obscure information that's still referenced today.
I haven't thought about strategy guides for ages, they sort of went obsolete with the advent of GameFAQs and player-written walkthroughs and guides and I just never questioned it. Typically I prefer figuring things out for myself.
No matter the genre. Whether its an mmo, card game or shooter, there always will be meta and meta needs guides and every content creator needs easy content to publish. Is it awful ? Nah, you just boomer. Its been like this for years. Kinda weird you woke up and decided to ♥♥♥♥ on cute girl anime game and not league or Warcraft 3 or even Starcraft 1. Tibia ?
Dear frens, I was created in 1978, a Gen X millennial cusp.
Why can't you people just google everything? There's only about 8,600,000 results pertaining to the keyword 'generations' but I only needed one answer for my search query.
Get it?
The Greatest Generation: born 1901 to 1927
The Silent Generation: born 1928 to 1945
Baby Boomers: born 1946 to 1964
Generation X: born 1965 to 1980
Millennials: born 1981 to 1996
Generation Z: born 1997 to 2010
Generation Alpha: born after 2000
Please reread the title and learn how to discern contextual literature without putting words in my mouth that didn't come out. Nowhere did I denigrate this game or anime.
Generation X: born 1965 to 1980. Learn how to criticize the generations within their age bracket.
Also, Sylvester Stallone was born on July 6, 1946, your avatar is a boomer.
Have some respect for your hero. Google it and memorize it so that your personal attacks and false accusations are at least somewhat accurate. I'm Gen X. Your attack is negated.
To the previous statement, been there done that, you're not telling me anything I haven't already done and again, the paperback guides are still better than 296,000 useless search results. We only need one ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ guide, not quantity over quality. It's so wasteful.
Yes, my rant is never productive, much like anything online as you've clarified quite well.
I did forget to mention, it's not fair for the playerbase to feel obligated to make a guide where the devs won't. I can never get my rant to be received how I intend, no matter how long I go on. The last time I looked up the Bayonetta paperback guide price in 2014, I saw one for sale at an estimate of $460.00 on Ebay and there's a reason for it that these matrix babies don't understand.
It's not about just having the guide for 'fun'. People have their online guides, why are the paperback guides demonize along with the fan who would buy them? It's hypocrisy.
People buy comicbooks, people buy art, it's the same principle. The illustrated guides have art, posters in them, cards and so on.
These bums want everything for free, views, like and praise. Nothing wrong with the views, likes and praise until someone brings up buying a paperback guide.
"IT'S FORBIDDEN!" is the response. 1984. These people are nuts and the results of it in 2024 Chaos AD is evident but ya, I'd buy a Granblue physical book not just for the short cut through 296,000 useless search results on the topic. If any game community came together and started printing them as a third party affiliate of the franchise I'm interested in, I'd pay. They already cry about buying these games, they want everything for free and will never be satisfied.
More problems are coming, it's only going to get worse. Gen Alpha at 7th grade is performing on the 4th grade level but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me to hell for reminiscing about how cool and efficient my paperback guides were for iconic games that have shaped and pioneered the entire subculture, what's left of it.
I appreciate the healthy discourse. Salute o7
