They are playable characters. You can actually play every single one of them. They behave the same as the standard party members you have.
They're not in the super main cut scenes. It always shows the original crew of 6. But they're always in the victory poses and other cut scenes, I believe.
They have some banter at crucial moments or when playing as them, their lines would replace Vyrn's. Not in cutscenes but technically there. Some of them reference what happen in their fate quests.
