Endgame party composition

Last few days going through the main quest and sidequests, and I still got some time to go before I hit endgame. I was wondering: are you still obliged to using Gran or Djeeta during solo in your team, or can you get rid of them? Second, do you need to level a tank (Vane, Vaseraga) for that, and does the AI handle that well?

there is not a single hero "needed"
but i would suggest you at least add someone with a heal, so you get healed if you do take dmg

You are not obliged to use Gran or Djeeta in anywhere except for story mode. Story mode includes Ultimate Difficulty where monsters are lv 100

Which means you WILL be forced to play as Gran/Djeeta at Ch 1 Ultimate. Just a heads up if you plan on doing Ultimate.

Otherwise, you can have whatever party you want. If you plan on going full AI, know that their dodging skills is often better than some human players (seriously, stop dying at the 5 second mark guys) but their DPS capabilities is infuriating during damage checks.

TBH, the AI doing less damage than players is perfect for a lot of high end quests that require you break X parts or perform X links or arts before the fight ends. It's insane how these quests punish you for being too powerful otherwise.

Tanks with provoke are useful for getting Weak DMG on behind attacks. But you can also "tank" by using someone like Gran who can grant the entire party 70% DMG Cut. Or someone like Vane who can make bubbles of invincibility. Or Yodarha who can grant the team Mirror Image. There's more than one way to tank damage.

Ok cool. Thanks for the answers. Guess I will have to cope with Gran for a while still, then. He ain't half bad, but there are lots of cooler characters.

The guy does have a heal and a buff, so you can just put him as a support/back up and do the rest of the team composition whoever ya like.

With Djeeta and Katarina (as healers/support) I was able to complete a good portion of Proud missions. It becomes impossible for them at 10k power+ tho

??? the lowest proud mission is 10k and the initial batch past that is 11k and 13k

Use 3 support and you play a main dps.

ai ignores some mechanics, guess u havent played harder than maniac
