Seeing how good the party AI is in this game, I just build him and let AI control Rackham, Zeta (she really can fly and some enemy attacks won't even hit her), Cagliostro (a very versatile support)
All at the same time.
You have to play around your Adept Arts to actually be useful, its not a braindead button smasher character like pretty much all the rest.
You also have many ways to play with it because of the wide range of skills this character has... Tank, DPS, Support in one Character.
You can go to the Party menu and switch the playable characters to whoever you have unlocked. The Captain simply needs to be in the party as one of the other members.
