Game isn't a sequel or a prequel. It's a self contained story with references to the original game since above all else this is a game mostly for granblue fans while trying to gain traction in the west. Which they succeeded at so even if it's not actually canon it's fine.

The game closer to an actual sequel is Versus as the things going on there are actually relevant to the current events of the original game.

IDK i've definately read this Cat Watcher's digest before, and I've been in this Seedhollow city before. I knew the layout instintively, the walk up the center spoke, the back alleys the cliff balcony's, i remember the military guys running off too.

I used to beta a ton of games, many got sold off, repurposed, or cancelled ultimately never went to launch, was this originally slated for another game (sometime in the last 20 or so years lol)?

I'm clueless after beating the prologue. Do I need to watch all seasons of the anime to understand the characters. I get it's not Canon but does the game flesh out the characters enough for newcomers to the series

Just think of it as an alternate timeline/universe that hasn't happened in the main game yet.

But it comments on things that have happened in the animr. So that would make it a spinoff of the gacha game but a sequel to the anime. The anime and this game are it's own thing while the gacha game is another thing

It is a side story. Main story would probably be the original gatcha game and anime.

At least that what my thought process is. You don't really need to watch the anime. But it is strange seeing all those characters in the anime after play the game
