Story isn't what the game's about so it's an afterthought at best. Has some flashy fights but that's about all there is to that.
And in the other hand, the character backgrounds (for anyone, like me, who didn't know anything about the franchise) are super wrong telling, the fate episodes only barely scratches on the surface but it's so bad designed that you have to QUIT from the main story you are playing, go back to the city and start the fate episodes, that are super boring to read only text with some illustrations, breaking the pace of the main missions. Imagine (minor spoilers), something bad happen to one of your teammates in the main mission, you have to help him/her out, according with the main story, you have to help out quick!.... but hey, I want to know more about that character, let's get back to the city and start a super boring fate episode.
I don't want to put a negative (currently my review is positive), so I put the game on hold and started watching the anime right now to understand more about the background. I think the story has much potential, and I know the strong product actually are the fighting games, but in my opinion it's a bad story design. Maybe this is the consequence of delaying over and over.
Just go to NexusMods. You may need to make an account to see them though. A quick scroll on the most popular shows 3 different ones just for Narmaya.
If there is ever a sequel, they better not 'forget' proper co-operative functionality...
