Nope, new to Grandblue and having tons of fun. You could read up the lore within the game if you want.

Nah you'll be fine! its a nice intro into the Granblue universe! ^^ You could play the Browser / mobile version if you really want to know more about the character Lore and or simply fall in-love with the franchise.

The anime is also nice xD

i don't really plan on playing the moble/browser game if it's gacha hell.

As anything, it helps to have some knowledge of the universe ahead of time, but you wont be missing out if you dont know. The game does a good job of letting you know that the locals you go to are new. Any major plot relivant stuff is VERY briefly explained (like 2-3 sentences) and theres optional lore dumps you can read/listen to if you want more.

I just finished the main story, and i hadnt really heard of granblue before the game i got it cause you know looked like a very quality game that was as fun as ninokuni 2. The existing universe only gets referenced here and there, but otherwise its not much, plus it gives you an archive and glossary in the game.

Though the point is, its tons of fun the ending REALLY drags though sheesh, but you dont have to know diddly and the game is a fine title while not ever having seen the anime or even heard of the franchise. Cant say id get into it, but i do enjoy this game.

Not really. As for me, I never play the gacha of GBF, but ive watched its anime and consumed lots of hentai arts from it. I like the characters and i think as long as you like the characters there wont be any big problem.

The FATE Episodes from the Quest counter have little Mini Stories that tell all the back story of everything relating to the characters in the game.
