Wait to use crewmate cards?

When I was looking around here I thought I saw someone say to not use them until level 40 because that gives the character free mastery levels or something like that. Is it true? I kind of wanted to unlock someone that I was interested in.

From what I read, you can use 2 early, then wait til after the story to use the rest.

yup indeed they come with free almost all unlock since they lvl 40, u can use 2 early but after that u wait until lvl 100 or something

Sounds like when you use them the new crew conforms to your level. If you use early it could lead to a ton of power leveling.

Whereas if you are cap level and use the card and get the crewmember at cap level you would be saving yourself a ton of time.

It doesn't really matter. Later in the game it took me about 15 mins bringing in 2 high level party members with 2 low levels into the Maniac slime quest letting the high levels do the killing and you can get the low levels up to level 80-90 with a bunch of mastery points during that farming run. So by all means try characters if there's some that look interesting to you. (All the side quests grant shared xp too and raised everyone up to level 63ish for me so far, even ones I haven't tried yet).

mastery points are very easy to farm from doing quest, you don't have to worry

They do come preleveled but there's no point in waiting because all the characters keep earning xp even when you're not using them, just play how you want and don't worry.

it doesnt matter at all in any way. no reason to wait to play a character you want when everything is easily hyper farmed

Use all at 45 since they will not level more than that prio unlock. I'm 65 and they don't level more.

PD: You can also unlock it on early doesn't really matter that much you just save skill points if you wait.

This is incorrect. They level to 60 when you unlock Maniac.

If you're trying to spoof the end game mega weapon drop chances, not using them is very beneficial.

If you don't wanna lvl them much wait till you unlock Maniac mode online and they will be lvl 60, If not tbh it doesn't matter much due to how fast you can lvl and get the Masteries later down the line.

No, they go up to 60 when you reach maniac.

Honestly, leveling so so fast that it really doesnt matter. Get your buddies when you want.
