Report a translation problem
That's where the problem lies. There's JP voice but subtitles are likely subbing the English dub/translation.
Some lines were entirely changed and that's why ppl are pissed.
It's maliciously done to make sure people never learn a 2nd,3rd etc. language. I learned English from cartoons and TV shows when I was a kid, same for Japanese and a very barebones understanding of German from videogames and shows.
Many that do these localizations admit they don't know the language and hate it. They make them worse as possible to make sure people can't even learn anything new.
Worst offender is changing character personalities, traits and even story. Best thing to do is learn more Japanese by youself and eventually write an email to Cygames, tell them of what is going on because I am sure they are blissfully ignorant that their work is being spat on by people with zero respect for culture, language and IP.
There is, except as others mentioned if you chose English subs, it will be the subs from the English dub. So get ready for cringe ghetto speech, weird ass phrases and expressions only they know what it means. And it's sad because it removes the whole fantasy element and tbh, dumbs down the American English even more to the point where instead of learning some extra words and expression you will learn how to say "yo yo sup my homies".
the englsih vo feels like it was made for 6yo mentally challenged people

It's literally graffiti over art, as key quotes that stand the test of time get ruined by some 4th rate hack who thinks they know better
Gimli: 'And you have MY Axe' becomes 'Poggers, FR FR'
Gone with the Wind: 'Frankly, darling, i don't give a damn' (which cost them a lot of money with the censors back in the past to keep in) becomes 'Poggers, FR FR'
Just washes away all key elements of the story and nothing stands out because it all gets watered down to marvel universe she hulk TV series level of AmAzINg HuMoUr
The english subtitles are based off the english dub so you get the 'WAZZUP FR FR' subtitles instead of the real ones
Hopefully to be modded soon
It's still a fallacious argument anyway because the solution to people not doing their jobs properly isn't to do their jobs for them, and we also know that the Japanese versions of games are being impacted by localisers telling the developers what to do while the games are in development now, as publicly admitted by multiple major developers with in-house localisation departments.
That is true
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is showing that all future titles in the series will be censored by the California localisation departments from the ground up in the story, so if that sort of trend continues, there won't be a pure Japanese source to fall back to, it will have been corrupted like the english one was
They really don't want us to have a choice, considering they are taking this path, they just want their crap localisation stamped over everything, its really frustrating
Why do you think weebs like anime so much? The short answer is mostly yes, they do have cute "kawaii" sheet talking in some characters. The long answer is. That is the selling point of anime since the beginning of anime existence but not entirely. The English voice over do have characters that do that. But, there are also more "adult" like characters that don't. So it isn't full childish kawaii sheet talk.
