If the changes aren't that big a deal and "DON'T MATTER" then it didn't need to be changed from the start if that was the case. Of course people can't stick to that thought process though cause they are hypocritical and characters looking hot and attractive actually does bother them... which is why they have to downplay the issue and mock the people who call it out in the hopes enough people are dumb/lazy enough not to care aswell.
next time they put a shirt on a male character make sure to be as upset
They're both issues.
I cannot think of a single instance of this ever happening outside of Mobius Final Fantasy. Perhaps one could consider that the reason people are normally complaining about female characters getting covered up is because that's what normally gets censored, while male characters are completely ignored, and in recent times, sexualised more than the women are.
The subtitles are still the changed localization even with JP audio track... that's what i meant by DUB-titles.
I would love to know what i'm downplaying here. they took out pantyshots and sideboob to better cater towards a specific rating. there are still boob windows, exposed thighs, bare shoulders, detatched sleeves, stockings, and almost every other fetish you could have. if the goal was to make it puritan for the western market they have thoroughly failed. your simply making a mountain out of a molehill and refuse to see its just a molehill.
For starters alot of the games still have the JP audio track so you can get by with some basic knowledge in some cases. Hell i buy Jp versions of unreleased games if they don't get released here or the western company porting it take too long.
Second the game itself outside the Censorship is still a fun game and people have to play the game to let others know what changes there are and other shady ♥♥♥♥ that the localized versions do.
We want to play good games from these JP developers, its just the western influence has overstepped its bounds to the enth degree and now we have to let said companies know that the failed writers and activist don't speak for the people who are fans of JP culture and media.
If we did actually like what they spew out we wouldn't all be flooding to JP/Asian entertainment like most of the world has, and the western media/pop culture/entertainment wouldn't be as dead and despised as it is now.
Self censoring is still censorship and is often done by these JP devs cause they think its what the overseas market wants, or more specifically are told by the western divisions they work/partner with, that they need to change things to sell over here and it wouldn't be seen as respectful or accepted in our culture. All of which is absolutely incorrect by the way, especially for the actual market/fandom these games are built around.
The Japanese Aesthetic, culture, beliefs and stories/characters are what drew people to them in the first place over the slop we are getting in the western market outside of indies who remember what the industry they are in actually is. Why remove the things people are coming to your product for in the first place?
Do you understand how this industry and game design/dev works at all?
Why is our hobby infested with so many tourist?
Meeting you ghouls halfway down the censorship line just means we'll meet again. If only you knew how hated you are..
