Did they just skip part of the story?
I'm new to the series and after starting the game it seems it just throws you in the middle of the adventure! And you're supposed to have already geotten a ship, have met all those people in the crew, have saved Lyria and have had some adventures?! What sort of an introduction is that?

Should I've played other games to experience those adventures? Or what?

The story skip straight into post 3rd arc of main story of original Mobile Game. You don't need to know previous arc though since ReLink story will be self contain itself for the most part.

Yea, I've just read I have to go watch the anime for the prior history. But it's two seasons with another being extra and scores are bad. I ain't gonna waste my time on it. Hopefully the game won't be referencing that content often.

It's not necessary bad. The animation is nice and all but early plot of and characters are very generic that you could guess the plot from mile away. It's does get better but the anime doesn't cover to that point.

If you can stomach the mobile game I’d say it’s worth a play through. It’s generous enough and a good story if you can get past what the anime covered

Yeah it's really bad. I don't get why people are recommending you to watch a D-tier Anime show.

I don't recommend it, it's terrible, and will probably ruin your enjoyment of this story - which is probably just as generic.

Do not perpetuate this.

This is like saying “oh you want to know what’s going on in the most recent Star Wars film? Go watch episode 1”

the anime covers the beginning of the story. As far as I am aware, the game takes place in the later parts of the story. If you wanted full context you would literally have to play the mobile game the anime does not cover enough for it to be the answer.

So during the VN part of the game, there is an option to read MORE information about everything so that you're all caught up.

Their are Fate Episodes at the quest counter that help fill in the gaps somewhat.

Because it's a good way to learn about the story setup? Since the animation itself is pretty nice, you're essentially calling the story itself "D-tier", no?

If you want to know how the characters first met, one of the directors of the game themselves recommend you go watch at least season 1 of the anime. As for the game's story it's self contained and meant to be enjoyable with no background.
