I think the 3d models are about the same quality, it's just the style that make it look different
Hell no. Look at Bandai's games based on other IPs like One Piece, Naruto, My Hero, SAO. They're usually soulless cash grabs
For the past 10 years, I wish Square Enix should have at least take some inspirations from the art of Granblue and make modern Final Fantasy characters more colorful & enjoyable instead of going with the boring black & lazy design like 15 & 16.
Actually, Cygames reminds me of tri-Ace & Star Ocean. Both has strong, enjoyable franchise but budget strain & lack of necessary partnership has stifled a good development progress.

Keep in mind most levels/scenarios in the early footage will be playable in the final product and side by side comparison will be possible.

That was what I first noticed. Especially when looking at Katilinas Newer model(lower textured and polygon.) which is closer to the final build we are getting next month. There was an Art style change but that isn't necessarily mutually exclusive(Reminds me of FFXIV from 1.0 to 2.0. improved art style but lower quality Models, texture and animation.) .
first trailer.

Here Colors are more vibrant but flat with a Richer hue but that's about it,textures and lighting seem simpler plus the Model polygon looks lower. Animations as well. Katilinas cape doesn't seem to have the same level of cloth physics animation as her older model, where as now the cape seems to have more simpler pre baked animations. Movement and overall animation also looks very stiff and floaty.
Its not a massive downgrade by any means and still looks good to me art style wise(I do prefer the older Art style though.), but agree with O.P that its there. But yeah side by side when the game drops could help to give a more in depth comparison.
