What really matters is the combat. It needs to be excellent.
There are still side quests, fate episodes, the online quest mode which is known to have 100+ quests of varying difficulty, etc.
Besides, if you look at most AAA action adventure games with a single player focus, as long as it's not open world design, a lot of them clock in at around the 20ish hours mark. The Last of us, Tomb Raider, etc. to name a few example.
Game time value wise, the value should be there. The bigger question I'd say is: whether or not there is sufficient variety for the quest mode or if things will get repetitive fast. That to me is something I would care a lot more than how long this story campaign is.
This site says 20 hours, then 100+ completionists
Cygames has announced that their upcoming action JRPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink will have a playtime of 20 hours for just the main story. Additionally, those who seek to complete quests alongside the main story and after clearing it should expect around 40 hours of content.
UPDATE: An unspecified “additional scenario” is unlocked after completing a series of quests after the credits roll for the main story. This is expected to make the total playtime roughly 40 hours.
However, upon completing all story content, more challenging quests will be unlocked, implementing a gameplay loop where more powerful foes and equipment can be discovered. Completionists who seek to do everything Granblue Fantasy: Relink offers should expect to spend at least 100 hours of playtime.
You ever played a Monster Hunter game? They're saying it's going to be 20hrs for the main story mode thing if you rush it and 100ish hours if you complete every multiplayer mission once plus enough to get a single character geared for the stronger ones.
MH Rise, for example, doesn't take that long to beat, 20-30Hr to reach the end of high rank assuming you're playing solo, add another 40 at least for Sunbreak assuming you want to complete all the content that was added post-game minus the ever-scaling anomaly investigations and uncap your MR to 999 (which means beating all urgent quests). But if you want to sit down and complete EVERY HUNT and try to reach anomaly rank 200 and actually reach MR and HR 999 instead of just unlocking the ability to reach them, that's going to take you hundreds of hours, even using the grinding missions.
If the gameplay loop is goot it's not a problem, like Toyosatomimi no Miko said, take MH, the gameplay loop is short (Hunt monster, craft armor/weapon with their component, hunt a bigger monster. Rinse. Repeat) but that doesn't matter because the gameplay is appealing and enjoyable.
