Graphics keep resetting to low *face palm*

Okay, So I felt like playing my old fav (civ4...derp) and everytime I start it up it comes up saying my computer can't handle it and sets all the graphics to low, So I go in, changed the graphics back to high then restart the game and BAM it once again tells me my computer cant handle it and resets it to low again. The funny thing is, my computer can handle most modern games, including Civ5 on high.

Anyone know how to get this game to do as its told? Thanks.

Why wouldn't people be playing civ4 0.0. It's amazing and by a lot of peoples opioins better then civ5

Try setting your CivilizationIV.ini in my documets/my games/ civilization 4 beyond the sword to read only. That is how I have fixed it in the past. But set all your settings to what you want beforehand, and to change those settings you will need to go and turn read only mode off.

I got civ 5 on sale and I was really disapointed, no unit stacking, no religion, no spies, and too little too late they added some of this in their expansions...

Once Fall From Heaven III is released and it is for Civ V Civ IV will be obsolete. Until then...

In fairness....civ4 before its expantions was also ♥♥♥♥. Just the why they work...give us the bare bones then the rest. :) civ5 is amazing. I either play 4 if i want to be all evil and deplomatic or 5 for anything else....also, unit stacking is bad!
