Update causes ongoing PBEM games to crash
I'm in a number of PBEM games and this new update has just broken my games. Now whenever I try to load one of my turns, the game immediately crashes to desktop. Does anyone know of a fix or if the developers are working on patch for this?

Yeah I can't even load single player games from before the patch without the game crashing. It's throwing an error, but crashes too quick to read it.

I'm going to raise it as a patching issue because it is. I'm playing 1v1s with adrenlier and cilitivy who both don't use the steam version of the game, and those are working fine, we are sending turns back and forth without issue. So it seems essentially that there is a patching error rather than it actually being a new and incompatible version, and so should be not too awkward for them to fix hopefully!

The error message that is thrown up is that the assets folder have been protected to prevent modifications.

I have the same problem, only with the pbem games.
Please, fixed it or I will have to downgrade!

"the save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed"

Same error here. We have started PBEM with 10 players couple months ago and we are now screwed because some couple of people keeps getting "the save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed". Great job Steam! Keep going!
