Civ V is ok but it took them 4 years of DLC to make it acceptable.
Civ VI is hot woke garbage.
We won't get another IV style civ ever again, the money is not there.
For example if the next version CIV 7 is like 4, the massive amounts of "WTF DID YOU DO" will come out, because that is all they know. The current player base want more of the 5 and 6 style civ, which is sad. Most of them never played 4.
this is terrifying to me.
err, the new civ normal.
CIV V and VI are definitely easier than IV, the AI is rather dumb and overall those two games are more chill and casual.
But I wouldn't outright say that one is better than another.
Maybe not if you consider only the games themselves, but if you add mods to the equation IV is definitely better.
Lack of cities micromanagement, lack of cities, incredibly stupid IA, especially about tactics...Which were supposed to be the good point of CIV VI.
The graphics are excellent. I love how everything you build is visible on the tiles, from buildings in the districts to wonders. Yes some people don't like the artistic direction, but I think it looks gorgeous. On ultra settings, the lighthouse actually emits a beam of light that casts shadows. When that beam hits a Destroyer docked in the harbour at night... makes me feel like a kid again playing with my model toys.
I'm also a fan of the one unit per tile mechanics. I've always hated the doomstacks from civ4. Not only did they feel like spreadsheet battles, they were pretty easily cheesed (forces you to spam catapults). The new combat mechanics actually makes army composition and positioning much more important. Of course the AI doesn't do well with it, but thats part of the fun. When they spam out units on deity, we need every advantage we can get.
Civ6 is a step up from Civ5. However, compared with Civ4, im still on the fence. Civ4 is still the game with the most depth, but it is getting a bit dated. While Civ6 isn't as deep, it does make up for it with its modern visuals. For me, both games have their place on my hard drive.
v sucks too, but not as much
The only thing I didn't like was the AI's decision-making capabilities both during war and out of it at times, so just to put it out there, Civ 6, though a very well-done game, has some very apparent flaws too.
But, overall, it's a very nice game! I'd say you should give it a go but just try to keep an open mind and try to learn the whole thing before you judge it.
Nailed it.
Whats the point of playing Civ when I am never threatened nor challenged?
It's as if I was competing in a sport with a 2 year old (any sport).
