Crashing when trying to change the resolution
Hello,

Whenever I try to change the resolution in the menu, the game crashes for me.

hey,
What worked for me was switching to windowed mode before changing resolution, then back to full screen.

I tried that, the game just freezes and flickers then closes.

Strange, works for me perfectly in Windows 10.
did you ever find a fix mate?

yeah...no. I had this problem. then....I started playing again and it let me change the resolution.

whats your graphics card driver, I might have a solution.

I think what happened with mine is it wouldn't let me change the resolution. so I ran it in windowed mode, and full screened it.

now I can run it just fine in full screen mode at my desktop resolution.

changing compatibility settings to win7 seems to work

1. Open the game and go to the settings then turn off fullscreen. it should prompt you to restart so do so.
2. Maximize the window layout then click on the settings once again and choose youre desired resolution. Once done click Fullscreen option again and restart when it tells you to.
3. Reopen the game one last time and BINGO! it should work now in fullscreen on your desired resolution.

If it doesn't i have no idea. This is how i got it to work personally. Good luck fellow Civ Gamers

that is what i said I did as well. thanks for adding bullets. makes it clearer.

I didn't add bullets because I wasn't sure all my steps were required.

Hopefully it helps people trying to fix their resolution without a crash. That's what I care about. Anyways, glad to be helpful.

It crashed the first time I tried but when I reload the game and try again it works fine. Happened with Civ IV and both the expansions, had to load them one by one and do each one seperately.
