In order to help you. Please try and do the following/make sure you have these settings. Also please post if you have something different. I should also note that you must make sure any filepaths have the correct drive listed otherwise these wont work - ill be using my own so change accordingly.
- To start, install BAT/BUG as per install instructions EXCEPT FOR:
- Make sure the folder for the mod is installed in the following path on your steam drive:
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Mods\BAT MOD 4.1"
- Then, go to the beyond the sword folder and find the game shortcut ("E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword")
- Make a shortcut for this and put it on your desktop.
- Then right click on it and make sure the following is in both the "Starts in" and "Target" fields:
Starts in - "E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword"
Target - "E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod="BAT Mod 4.1"
Then launch it. And cross those fingers and eyes, and it should work. Let me know if not and ill see if i can help some more. Also let me know if it works and then ill see if i can post a guide or something on civ fanatics and ask Lemon to make it a sticky (the mod creator)
Installed bat into the /beyond the sword/beyond the sword/mods folder.
I've tried using the installer and the zipped files and deleted the bat mod folder in between attempts. No dice with either install. The weird part is is that the bat mod shows up and I can load the mod and the game restarts as normal. Then the game says bat 4.1 in the upper right corner, but when I start the game I do not get the "bat screen" with the picture of an actual bat. I do not get any of the bat mod functionality in game.
I was using bat mod a few weeks ago on this same pc. I guess I could try moving game back to my old hard drive and try that, but I would like to have all my steam games in 1 place.
I know in an old civfanatics thread lemon mentioned looking for the bat loading screen which I do not get anymore. Any help appreciated.
For batmod.exe: extract into the beyond the sword folder in my documents.
First option you must always choose to run a mod after starting the game (advanced>load a mod) and second option the mod will always be active.
I could not get BAT to work using the instructions above. The game started to load BAT and then kept crashing to desktop.
However i was able to install BUG and BULL from their respective zip files into one mod folder. (The Readme for BULL says that they don't share any files by design, so it's safe to do that). This mod works flawlessly for me thus far.
Because the installation process for BUG, BULL and BAT via the zip-file is essentially identical, i'm not sure what might cause the issue. Maybe it's a conflict with Win 11.
D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods
The one Frag wrote above was missing "\Beyond the Sword" because "\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword" also has its own Mod folder which made it confusing lol
After that, the shortcut address should work.
Having just recently upgradeed to windows 11. I can believe this is true. I have a whole host of stuff that doesnt work properly. Im actually thinking of going back to windows 10. Stupid microsoft
Thanks, this solved the problem for me. I had K-Mod sitting inside the Civ 4 general mod folder, not the deeper Beyond the Sword mod folder. The solution seems so obvious now.
