Download, add to the mod folder.
Then launch using C2C in the mod folder or make a shortcut etc.

Download the C2C zip file and open it with 7-zip, copy the folder inside (not the contents of the folder, but the folder itself) to

> D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods

It's tricky because you have to be sure that you are in the BTS folder, not the base game AND you have to actually go into a different folder INSIDE the BTS folder. Its "Beyond The Sword\Mods", not just "Mods". You'll know its the right folder because there will be other mods like Final Frontier and MesoAmerica, and NextWar. Once it's in the right folder, you can either change the game .ini file to load directly into C2C, or start the mod through the main menu.

I tried doing that, but I loaded the mod and it simply brought me to the normal game
