I always try and get all of the relegions too (especially if you can pull it off in one town), this stunts the AI's growth if you never meet them and if you can pull off all relegions in one town just imagine the gold youll get, can carry a full civ and allow you to rush units every single turn from every town... This strategy works best if your teaming with someone, otherwise your getting rolled over on tech if you focus on relegions.
My god, The bank i was earning was gross.
- Financial
- +1 gold on plots with +2
- Expansive
- +2 health per city
- 25% Faster production of worker
- double production speed of Granary, Harbor (unique building)
- Unique building - Cothon
- +1 trade route per city.
- Starting Techs
- Fishing.
- Mining.
I made sure i got the Great Lighthouse +2 trade routes.Currancy +1 trade routes
Engineering - Castles +1 trade routes.
The only downside was the amount of boats i had to have, but for along time Privateers were the top tech and with me blockading all my rivals ports all the AI stagnated.
Pacal II of the Portugese Empire would be a potent combination on that knda map too. The unique building of sea tiles gaining +1 hammer. Delicious!
my favorite civilization to pair him with is babylon, although sumeria is a close second. I favor these two because they have the same starting techs, starting techs which allow me to research pottery immediately. I favor babylon because the garden building is good and pairs well with willem's creative trait. I favor sumeria because their vulture unit is good for rushing through archers.
I also favor these two combos because I like feeling like I'm playing with well balanced advantages rather than overpowered or underpowered ones. I haven't seen any civilization/leader combo rankings lists, but I would guess that hannibal of the inca would be one of the most powerful combos. this is a combo I've seen played to victories on immortal and I think deity as well, even on huge maps where their rush advantage is less effective.
