I don't see the appeal of battle royale games in general.

It's a bit of a rant, but I want to get it off my chest so here we go.

How's battle royale become the biggest thing on PC? I just don't find it any fun. In those types of games you wait for 2-3 minutes to get into a game, get thrown off some helicopter, run around like a headless chicken from one loot orb to another for 3-5 minutes and get dunked on in 10 seconds. Repeat for 2 hours. The strategy is to find some safe spot, turn into a barrel and wait for 15 minutes while they duke it out and there's only 2 guys left. Yeah, 'fun and engaging gameplay'! Otherwise you die to some guy that just happens to hear the sound of battle and comes to loot your corpse after a hard-won victory.

I just don't like the idea of 1/30 chance or 1/100 chance of winning better than 50/50! And the games certainly don't have the screen that says 'Congratulations! You've outlived 30% of people, here's your prize!' Only the last guy alive is crowned as the victor. You might say that prize is rank points. Well, those rank points to me mean 'go get dunked over by more skilled players, faster and more efficiently than before' They are of course used to measure skill and provide the optimal experience for all, but in BRR particular case, I've been getting them from bronze 5 to silver 5 just by dying with no kills. I've had that voice in my head that said 'Oh, you lose to those bad opponents, here are better opponents for you to lose more'

Other than that, I never liked the dota aspect of 'everybody starts off barely functionable, and has to earn levels to even have access to all the character abilities' And I guess I never liked to end somebody's run - even in strategies I cry inside a tiny bit when my units have to die to a successfull push. In other games that is not as apparent as they have respawns and may come back for revenge on me. Even in mmos where you lose gear or levels that's not a hard lose. One can always fall back, spend some time in lower level zone and come back.

So yes, battle royale genre is not for me of course, but it just boggles my mind that it's now one of the most popular games with all the downsides I've listed above.

It's not aimed at BRR game in particular, just this game I found the easiest to approach with my poor aiming skill. That would make no sense if I went to a card game forum and start complaining about how driving games are no fun because it's either rng or you always end at the same position you've started from if nobody makes mistakes.

yeah sounds like a skill/ matchmaking problem for you. hiding in a barrel would not be much fun. coming out on top of 5+ frantic fights is pretty intense. hopefully they get more players and can have some depth to there ranking in mm.

Battleroyal games are for bad players who can't win a fair fight but still want to feel like a badass just because they cheesed.

i have the same problem... i just dont know what the appel is, i tried with pubg, some more here, and cant wait for spellbreak, but still didnt find a good battle royale.
