are you telling me that its a mix between people and bots???
me n my buddy were playing last night had some good wins against people not AI but last ranked game we played was all bots...every single one and we ranked up after lol
It's all about following a trend for them. Skins, Battle-Royale, more micro-transactions, more stupid items, as soon as other games had success with 'passes' they did the same immediately, completely disregarding the fact they didn't have the player bases to make it a viable revenue source. Big dev for micro-transaction purposes but nothing on gameplay and particularly PROGRESSION. That is how you retain players, in both their games there's nothing, absolutely nothing that makes you want to progress. So people don't care.
All it would have taken was to develop a little story mode where you fight extra hard bosses as a team and move forward to clear unique PVE encounters with progressive difficulty. Or a real tournament mode back the games were hot. Or reworking the achievement panel to include things like
"Hunted by the prey" - Kill 500 Jumongs with any champion, but Jumong
"Powerhouse" - Collect 7 Orbs in one competitive round
"Do a barrel roll" - Travel 500km as a barrel
"BOOOOM!!" - Hit 3 enemies with a single ultimate in a competitive round
etc etc etc ..
They also should have gone with simple projects yet satisfying ones:
- Club/Guild/Clan, whatever you want to call it. There is no community building internal to the games.
- Mounts can jump.
- Hard to get Mounts tailored to champion. I'm sorry but Thorn on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chicken isn't something you want to play.
- Potentially a resurection spell, usable once per team per game, long incantation, dangerous to use and costs health to cast? Just to add an interesting element of communication. It would keep dead people on there toes. (A bit like the Shrine in Royale but more risky)
- Every 3rd Orb in a round needs to be activate by all friendly mates alive at once instead of just having to damage it and offer sick bonuses. Just a random idea to get more team play based mechanics.
Anyways .. They can only blame themselves ;) Just a bad studio in terms of retaining players. They hop to anything that seems to work for others and realized woopsie, our game is unique and it doesn't work for us, but the it's too late.
