Well, that's not good. Is there a help phone number to the company so you could talk to a real person. You shouldn't have to go to a forum to get help. This doesn't make good P.R. for Steam.
Maybe I should just buy a retail version and dump this.
Thanks, maybe somebody else will see our problem and help.
Tim

If you're encountering issues with launching GTR 2 FIA GT Racing Game, make sure everything installed smoothly.
Aside from verifying your game cache and checking your connection with Steam, you may also need to manually run secondary installers required by this game.
Exit Steam entirely.
Browse to your GTR 2 FIA GT Racing Game installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\GTR 2 - FIA GT Racing Game\)
Run the following installers:
...\Steamapps\common\GTR 2 - FIA GT Racing Game\vcredist_x86.exe
Reboot your computer and test any issues again.
Thanks for your comments.
1. I never got to a window to type in my code.
2. so, what I downloaded, is only played online?
maseratialfa, your YouTube video in the Porsche is great, I feel like I'm in my 911. Are the 911RSR's in GTR2 or are they uploaded elsewhere?
Thanks,
Tim
The Porsche is part of a MOD called Power and Glory 3. It contains cars from the 60's, through the mid 70's. I think it is the best Simulation out there right now, and I have many including I racing, Rfactor1, and 2, P CARS, etc... The physics are amazing!!!!!
Basicaly the MOD overwrites GTR2 into a new game, but can be selected to retain all of the GTR2 original cars, with the P&G 3 cars. I have it installed as P&G only and use a Championship manager to create Championships offline. The P&G MOD has a self installer which makes it easy to get going, other MODS you need to know how to install. The files can be found at my above link for the P&G Mod.
GTR2 is offline and online. Some of the online servers are password protected to try to eliminate the CRASHERS. These are usualy run by a League which is simple to join. There are online Championships held in the Leagues, which have a race once a week, with practice servers set up all week..
I hope someone chimes in to help out on the Steam side, and look forward to you getting it sorted out. I'll check back and see if I can offer any more assistance from time to time..
Here is a link to the Developers forum. I would join and ask for assistance with your issue if you dont get it resolved. They usually respond within a day.

Set the GTR2 executable to run in ADMIN if your running Windows 7 before you try to run the game.
Here is how
Navigate to where steam is installed on your drive. It is usually on C drive in PROGRAM FILES X 86.
Open Steamapps folder, then Common. Folders should pop up with the Game you have with Steam.
Open GTR2 and look for APPLICATION. Highlight and RIGHT click, look for compatability.
Set Privilege Level check mark to admin and apply.
I suggest for W7 to also apply this to CONFIG this will allow the resolution and graphic settings to take hold.
GTL and GTR2 dont like to be installed in the Programs folders and it is recommended to install something like this... C:\GTR2
THIS did not worked for me!
1)Turned off steam entirely
2)Went to http://store.steampowered.com
3) On the link provided: I went to Step 2. of Troubleshooting Steps and clicked on this link: http://store.steampowered.com which took me to a page called: How To Download & Install DirectX.
4.I went to Step 1 and clicked on this link: http://store.steampowered.com which then took me to pcsupport.about.com's page for Microsoft's download and I downloaded the product (Free) DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer and basically re-installed DirectX on my machine.
5.Restarted steam and laucnhed GTR 2 and, thank God, it launched successfully.
