Game crash when initiating session

Game loads up fine, and I've played a few hours without issue before. But now, whenever I try to load into a race session the game crashes. Have done a clean install of files and verified file integrity, yet the issue persists.

try to run direct form gamefolder, you dont need to run steam to play this.
run GTR2 config .exe as admin, then run game as admin.
on some tracks, dont run with too many opponents.
apply 4 gb patch
game runs great here..best is to apply the socalled anniversary patch !! looks better then.
