GTR2 won't start keeps showing config box

I have just bought a new pc and installed this game, when i press play it keeps coming up with the config box and wont start regardless what settings I choose. Any ideas what the problem might be? I'm hoping P&G won't be affected

Go to the game directory, open the config.ini file and look for these lines
VIDEOGUID=D7B71EE2-DA40-11CF-4A77-9D26BEC2C535
VIDEODRIVER=0
VIDEOMODE=17
VIDEOREFRESH=0
They are near the bottom. The problem may be in the VIDEOGUID= line.
That line identifies your video driver> Check to be sure it is correct, everything else shuold be as shown here if I'm not mistaken.

i was getting this problem as it it seemed the config box was only picking up my intel card and not the nvidia one, which is causes some conflict with the game as the game exe picks up the nvidia one,
to remedy this, i just went to the nvidia control panel and selected for the config.exe to run using the nvidia card, and now when i play the game through steam it works!

Same issue for me. Worked by doing as suggested by Agathosdaimon. Only issue is you have to find the "GTR2 config" .exe file, right click, "run with graphic processor", then "change default graphics processor". From then Nvidia panel will allow you to switch Graphic card

Use the compatibility troubleshooter if you have Windows 10, put the compatibility for Windows 7 and it will works! :)
