Pedestrian density
Anyone else feel there aren't enough people walking around once you get to Niaowu? Once you get up towards senary road theres hardly anyone around. There needs to be more people around all the areas. It makes the game feel a bit lifeless.

Plus the LOD for people is the same as the Dreamcast, popping in while you're running around...whats that about? In this day and age, why is this still a thing?

Also, is there any news on a patch or any kind of update to the game? Its been out for a while now with no news on any updates etc...

Not really an excuse as you can just copy and paste the same models and have them walk throughout the town. Niaowu just feels empty and lifeless most of the time.

Don't bother, dude! Shenmue fanboys will defend everything, even if they got scammed by Yu Suzuki.

Btw, GTA 3 solved the pedestrian problem back in 2001.

I think it is because they rarely reused character models. So they probably ran out of character models and decided to tone it down.

Also imo the game felt really alive. Especially due to this that sometimes you can see other characters in your way talking with other npcs.

Oh i've played this on PS4 (not installing Epic) so that wont help. Good to know. I finished it today aswell.

That video someone posted later on in the thread is exactly what it should've been like to begin with. Baffling.

Yeah, I don't think they have "lives" as they did in shenmue 1 either. They lack daily routines.

It's clearly a budgetary constraint.

So people should listen you instead? You don't even understand the meaning of the word scam.
Whatever you say, puppet.

The fact is, Shenmue 3 is a Kickstarter game, that was funded by other companies and not just fans. That in and of itself is a scam and is against Kickstarter.

Not to mention the broken promises and an unfinished product.

What broken promises ? I've finished the game. It's pretty great.

Yeah it ends in a cliff hanger but it was never going to be the final game.

No Steam version and no Xbox version. Promise of an epic story. Broken combat and broken game. No character progression. It's the same: "I will kill Lan Di", since Shenmue 1. Cut content and overall less content than a Dreamcast game.

The line: "The fate of Shenmue is in your hands" was also a big lie.

Seeing how this isn't the final game, tells me that YS hasn't learned anything since Shenmue 2.

Combat wasn't great but then again it wasn't great in Shenmue 1 and 2.(In shenmue 2 I beat that bald guy with just spamming the elbow move.)

But story is great. Much better than a disappointment called Star Wars episode 9. When I finished shenmue 3 I didn't feel disappointed toward the story of Shenmue 3 at all.

Content wise it was better than the dreamcast games. You have far more mini games compare to dreamcast games. It also has difficulty setting and a proper new game plus mode which previous Shenmue games didn't have.

Gameplay wise it was also better. Much less loading screens, bigger environments, better controls and camera control , more ways to earn money , better graphics and more side missions.

It's also going to get some patches and dlcs that add more content to the game.

Also it didn't get steam version and xbox versions because Yu had to make some deals in order to make the best possible game under circumstances. Similar to the way that Final Fantasy 7 remake is going to be a timed exclusive game for PS4.

Combat is way worse, because there are no throws and many moves were cut to sell as DLC. Shenmue 1 and 2 used Virtua Fighter combat, which was way better.

There are no Sega games or toys and no darts. Game is shorter than Shenmue 2 and they added boring leveling and stamina system.

Graphics look like an early Xbox 360 game and the NPC look like TF2.

Ryo is still an angry boy who can bearly beat street thugs. Even when he loses to Lan Di, he learns nothing. I thought that he would learn, that revenge is not the answer. There is no character progression. He only learns Kung Fu, becuase he wants to kill Lan Di.

FF7 was always a Playstation game; Shenmue 3 was a Kickstarter game.

Sony gave no money. They simply allowed Yu to show the game on their E3 stage.
Deep silver kept the epic money.

Shenmue 2 was a AAA game, the most expensive of all time up until that date. How can you seriously compare this Kickstarter AA game to that?

For the budget, Yu delivered an incredible game.
Rather than whining here all day, why don’t you buy the game, play it, them support Shenmue 4 so that that game can be even better?

Seriously, how does trolling here seem better than actually playing videogames to you?
