I don't recall seeing it here before. And I thought that if I missed it, others might have as well. I read the letter recently when I completed the game during the credits.
I believe it will happen :)
Care to wait another 20 years?
I expect an announcement this year.
Playing 20 hours plus to learn 2 new moves while portraying Ryo as a hotheaded delusional idiot who struggles to see off a few drunk thugs does not a good game make.
In their minds, Yu Suzuki never did anything wrong. He got screwed by Sega, Sony, Epic and Deep Silver. They also think, that there needs to be 6 games, because Shenmue has an amazing and unique story.
Can you summarise the basic story of Shenmue 1&2?
Not much happens in those. Shenmue is a slow pot boiler. The journey is far more interesting than the destination.
I think Yu knows exactly where he’s going with the story and has for many years now. Just be patient and enjoy the adventure. Or don’t and move on with your life, torturing yourself isn’t helping anybody.
Not much happens in those?
Lol, okay. In Shenmue 1 alone we see Ryo's dad die, Nozomi kidnapped, Ryo develop links with Chinese martial artists, Ryo learn about the Japanese underworld - local and foreign, Ryo drop out of school, find the Phoenix Mirror, battle 80 dudes, etc.
Please tell one significant development of the story arc in Shenmue 3, besides infighting in the Chi You Men (which could be reasonably expected anyway).
Indeed, it's crazy.
At the end of Shenmue 3 - it's as if all Ryo learned in his journey through Shenmue 1 & 2 is to be more delusional, whinier and stupider.
Forget the Wude, forget all his teaching - make empty threats against a dude you can't even lay a finger on.
Summarised.
So a cutscene shows us Ryo’s father being killed and he learns of the dragon mirror and that the killer wored for the chi you men. That’s it.
In 3 we learn of a faction within the chi you men, land Di loses loses control, and Ryo loses the mirror.
It’s the shenmue way. I think you are missing something if you expect tons of plot only halfway through the story.
It’ll be interesting to see how games like Control and Shenmue 3 do this year when they are finally out from under the yoke of Epic domination...
