The second part of what you had to say is just dumb.
You won't get away with this
To be fair, Shenmue wasn't what killed the Dreamcast, Sega killed the Dreamcast. After the Sega Mega Drive, they became terrible at promoting their hardware. Sega CD, Mega Drive X32, Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast, they all failed to sell because Sega just didn't do enough to get people interested in them.
I had people I went to school with that didn't know what any of these consoles were. They knew of the Master System and Mega Drive, but they had no idea about the Mega Drive add on's, Sega Saturn or Sega Dreamcast.
I don't remember seeing any ads on tv or many ads in magazines about the Dreamcast. It was all Playstation, then Playstation 2 and Xbox.
I saw a lot of ads for dreamcast and demanded it. Other friends were 'jealous' because their parents couldn't afford it. I think that price was a big factor. The dreamcast killer hashtag was a just a joke that reflects what most say as a generalization.
