1. You can split stacks with ctrl + left click.
2. Obelisk respawns allow you to cheat death by teleporting you to an obelisk when you would other die. When you run out of these, you actually die. In the past this meant a game restart on hard difficulty. This has been removed and all that happens now is you drop all your loot on the ground and have to run back to pick it up. There is no game over :).
3. This is currently one ranged weapon (void rifle). Not sure if you are considering this, but also base defences and gadgets.
4. There is currently no way to increase their health. They can typically tank a creature or two in a directly 1-on-1, but usually you'll need to protect them and use them for support.
5. You can repair buildings but not gear. You can, however, recycle low durability gear to get most of the materials back to craft a new one.
6. Corruption doesn't affect buildings, but if you're surrounded by corruption you might find yourself in it too much :D. But generally speaking, no, you don't have to relocate. Also, Habitats (not shelters) protect you from corruption.
7. Yeah armour and gadgets are a good thing to use. Perhaps some of the better weapons too. Other than that, you can dodge their attacks when you get used to their patterns. I recommend recycling your low durability armour and re-crafting new ones if you're having trouble with the materials.
Hope this helps :)
Thanks! Regarding this specific point - I went in with 100% armor. A viperlisk attacked me, then brought a friend and in between those two, my armor went from 100% to 0% after a few attacks, leaving me in the middle of that biome without protection...seems like the rate the armor gets destroyed by attacks is too harsh...
... Ok I just tested with Hazguard Suit which is mid-tier. It lasts for at least 2 health bars worth of damage. If you have a helm on as well then you'll be taking less health damage though though. Not sure what your setup was exactly. But we definitely don't anticipate one fight taking it from 100 to 0 :|. If that is definitely happening for you, you could post in the bugs and feedback tracker (linked in pinned topic).
Definitely something is off - to test it further, I took the hazguard armor in a hazard neutral area and just engaged some low level enemies (the one eye bugs). I let them attack me and hit me a few times - I counted 5 - and my armor went from 100% to 60%. My HP also went down by 1 pip. Now that doesn't seem a lot, but we're talking about low level bugs, like the absolute lowest (besides chirpers). I think they should barely scratch that armor at that point...
Maybe you guys can add a toggle or something in options - less armor durability loss
If you are seeing different behaviour, that would be concerning so could you please create a bug report here if that's the case?

Oh and I also found your clever snowman!
(Glad you like the snow man, I'll let the art team know haha.)
Is there a way to change or check the difficulty settings after you start a game? I can't recall what I started with, but I think it was the defaults
I know it's not ideal, but it's working as expected. It's an area that has been a little bit difficult to work with technically. Sorry if it's bothering you :(.
