Aground
Graphics bug/Purple lines across game screen
I'm very new to Steam and my laptop but have played the Aground demo before on Newgrounds. The game worked perfectly fine and I was happy to buy the full game, and a few others in the recent sales. Fast forward a few days and trying out a few of said games and this one has an odd graphics bug (but none of the other games I've tried yet have had the same problem). So is it something anyone else has experienced with this game. If I take a Steam screenshot the game looks perfectly normal when I look back at the screenshot but when I do it on my computer it's possible to see what I'm seeing when I try play the game. Any help appreciated.

maybe a problem with your pc?

Sounds a bit like a graphics issue. I did have a similar problem at one point recording play of Aground (but the visual problem was on the video, not the game).

That sounds like a graphics card bug - especially if it looks normal in a screenshot. Try updating your graphics card driver from the manufacturer's website (nvidia/amd/intel) - windows update doesn't always find the latest.

I'm having this same issue, game ran fine on my old laptop and this one is 6 years newer, tried graphics drivers update, uninstall/reinstall game, verify files, wipe files and fresh install, flipping fullscreen on/off, restarting computer in case something was just weird. Played through this game multiple times on my old laptop and never had this issue.

Had my brother in-law fix it for me. Your newer laptop probably has two graphics drives. Even if you've updated the drives the game is still trying to run itself through the one that just does all the basic stuff, not the gaming drive. Can't remember exactly what he did to fix it but you have to change what the game is trying to run through. Hope this makes sense and we're having the same issue. Game ran fine afterwards

If your computer has two graphics cards (integrated and dedicated), usually right clicking the .exe will give you the option to run with graphics card. Sometimes disabling the steam overlay or editing the exe compatibility tab in right click properties helps too.

unfortunately there's no right click .exe option to run a different graphics setting, disabling the steam overlay didn't change anything, and i don't know how to edit .exe compatibility so ill have to look that up and see if i can get instructions

Update: i was able to find the compatibility options and tried them out, there's an option to run the game in 640 x 480 resolution and that fixed the screwed up colors and fuzzy screen perfectly. unfortunately the screen the game play is in a much smaller screen than my actual screen and i don't see a way to fix that so it throws me off of playing it.

Hmm, you can try the other compatibility settings (like, run compatible for windows 7) - it's weird that it works at 640x480 but not full screen. You can try changing your monitor resolution to 640x480, then it'll appear full screen.

I cant actually make my monitor go that low on resolution except for in game settings, lowest it has is 800x600. i tried all the other compatibility settings just to run through the options and the lower resolution was the only one that changed anything. My monitor natively runs 1920x1080.

I've just had the same issue with purple lines on my screen and was able to fix it (thanks to David and the internet), so I thought I'd share. In my case, I had updated my graphics card drivers through Nvidia, reinstalled the game, restarted my computer, and fiddled with almost every setting in the game and the game's file through explorer, but couldn't solve it. After seeing the above quote, I looked up how to select which GPU the game runs on (website that helped me: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000090168/graphics.html), figuring it wasn't using the one I just updated. After forcing the game to run on my Nvidia GPU, the game runs perfectly and I can finally live happily ever after.

Just had this issue on windows here is how I solved it:

How To Set the Default GPU for Applications and Games:

From Start Icon, type "Graphics Settings". Click the results from System Settings.
Click Desktop App.
Click your application. ... (T-engine.exe in your steam folder you may have to manually go to it in the app)
Once identified, click Options.
Set the application to your preferred GPU. (Don't let it decide for itself force your graphics card)
Click save.

Nevermind, this solution worked. Good for nothing Windows Update...
