Mirrows negotiation quest requirements
After playing through the science path once, I decided to do it again without attacking the Mirrows, but through negotiations. I found the room with a diode wolf in it, and went back to speak to the mechanic... and then walked around the overworld with no idea of what to do. It was entirely by accident that I found out I needed to craft dragon armor in order to fulfill the quest.

I understand if this portion of the game isn't meant to be easy, but it doesn't feel like the game gives any indication that a magic item is required for the science path. Listening to what the Mirrows had to say when I brought them the dragon armor with the mechanic, maybe some kind of hint that you're looking for something "that can't be explained by science" might be a helpful hint that you're looking for something magical. Maybe even a hint that it's a magical augmentation.

Right now the quest feels less like a puzzle that you have to cleverly solve and more like a problem that you just accidentally find a solution for, and that maybe there's a way to rectify that-- there's my two cents.

That's a good idea. Maybe I should change the mechanic's message when she gives you the negotiate quest to:
We’d need something really powerful to get them to change directions. Something that can't be explained with science.

What was it originally again?

That line was just:
We’d need something really special to get them to change directions.
, so no hints at all.

I see. I already had Dragon Armor, so I didn't need a hint at all. Thanks.

Well I wanted to ask what to do with the Mirrows, now I know. I seriously would never ever have guessed this. A hint would definitely be a good idea :p
