Safe bombardement.
Is it possible to leave everything unharmed when the bombardement comes? I mean can you fight them off while not losing any building?

I was concerned about this too in my playthrough. If I remember correctly, bombardment goes something like this:

*SPOILERS BELOW*

- Trigger that starts it is fighting The Old One.
- Bombardment occurs when getting too close to 1st island and 1st science island.
- You can prevent damage by avoiding those islands until you've secured a ship. Trigger the event, and go straight up to fight off the invaders.

Hope that helps.

I have read that you can have safety lines of walkways. How long is the bomb interval and do I have to have free space between the lines of walkways and walkways and buildings? I want to fight them, but I don't want the world to be destroyed.

Islands will not get damaged unless you are on that island to see it - so if you go to space and fight off the invaders immediately, no bombs will actually fall. Walkways will protect structures from one bomb and then destroy the walkways, but it's easier to just avoid the areas until you can defeat the bomber. There's also a mod that lets you build a structure that protects against the bombs: https://aground.mod.io/bombardment-shield

The Bombardment Shield mod isn't accessible.

I just changed the mod.io version back to public, I hid it because I planned to remake it but i think the current version should still work and I no longer plan to remake it.
I will try it with walkways and load the save again if it doesn't work. Then I will try the mod.

I went thru the bombardment event and now I kinda don't feel like playing anymore :/ A huge percentage of time spent in game is grinding materials, and even more frustratingly, inventory tetris. I don't want to spend hours moving things from one warehouse to another, and all my things are now not where I want to rebuild at.

Even before the bombardment, this was very annoying. Moving things between research station inventory, the science island warehouse, and the starting island warehouse, took a long time and was *not* fun, even if the game tried to make it a feature like shipping things across for a fee.

There needs to be some kind of patch or mod that allows fetching items from any warehouse you own, or some new "shared stash" (call it warehouse portal if you want), where all instances of the portal point to the same inventory, so I can build multiple portals reach the same items from anywhere. And this tech needs to be unlockale *before* the bombardment event.

There is! it is called "spirit storage" with a box obtainable very early in the game (requiring spirit to open). Mid-game (before bombardment depending on how you work things), you can obtain spirit storehouse seeds that "grow" storehouses that are all interconnected.

Where do you get it? I can't find it on mods list.

It isn't a mod. If you go down the magic path, you will find some fish that know how to create spellbooks. Once you make a dragonship (no need to go back to the starting island and trigger the bombardment yet), talk to the Sea Witch which will set a flag. Go to Mars and speak to the alien there, who will add a translation spellbook. Use it in your dragonship and take the seed back to the alien, who will use it to create a spirit portal. Go through the spirit portal and the npc there will have the spirit storehouse seeds for sale; just be sure to bring plenty of dragonblood as the place is somewhat dangerous.
Now, trigger the bombardment by going down from space just enough for the cutscene, then pop back out and defeat it (or go a bit further down the magic path which will send a larger fleet to attack).
To place the spirit storehouses, make sure you have the required spirit gems first. land your spacecraft, open its inventory and transfer all items from the storehouse to it. Dismantle the storehouse and place the spirit one. Finish by going back to your spacecraft and transfering everything back (via the inventory window).
By the way, you can do this even after bombardment, but there is a chance your things will be in the bunkers for Sunset Haven and the starting island.

Yeah, spirit box/storehouses are great for the magic path, and definitely the most convenient. If you're doing science path, teleportals also work. You can get them relatively early if you rush the pirates quest, and they let you teleport immediately between islands. If you place them smartly or have a minecart system to transfer the huge amounts of items from the teleportal to the storehouses, that lets you transfer items very quickly. Spaceships can also be used to transport huge amount of resources (both paths). When they land on the ground, they can access the storehouse directly from their inventory (unless they are too far away), and then can move very quickly to other islands and drop off items directly into their storehouse (if you go to orbit, you can get to the other side of the planet in seconds).

Thanks. I built teleports on both bases as well and spaceship, and it's more convenient.

Do you have at some point to take either magic path or science path? So far I've just been doing the quests for both sides, and use all the items both sides give.

At the very end of the game, you can only defeat the final boss on the magic or science path - but everything up to that you can go between the paths, and after defeating the final boss you can go back and complete most of the missed quests on the other path in post-game.
squirleybob May 7, 2020 @ 7:46am
I think it is possible to do all the quests, working both paths up to the point of defeating the final boss (at which point choose the path you like better).
