Recommendation for the wording on the wyrm feeding quest.
I found this game through a few youtubers and something I've noticed for many of them: they don't know to feed the wyrms to turn them into dragons. It's actually a fairly big plot point that I've noticed people get confused on and even just stop playing before they figure it out, in some instances.

Perhaps some rewording on the alchemist/cave guy, highlighting the fact that you should try *feeding* the captured wyrms, as well as some other context clue that let's people know they can actually feed the captured wyrms/pets, would do the game wonders. There are a few places that get people confused like not killing the dragon/anyone and figuring out how to beat the cyber guys in the spaceship, but I think users would be more likely to try the magic route to help them finish the science route, if they knew about turning the wyrms into dragons earlier or easier.

Edit: similarly, if the alchemist automatically teleported or showed up in the dragon lair before you start fighting the dragon, or if a dialogue box popped up letting the player know they could either fight, or attempt to negotiate with the dragon, I bet that will help alot of player experiences with that.

For me the problem with feeding the wyrms were that it sounded optional why I didn't bother because why would I waste my resources doing that if not important.
The dragon I noticed that I could feed also but thought it something that I would get something for killing so I killed it instead and only later learned that it invoked something in game that were needed for progression. (I had already visited the magical island using the cyber enhancement jet function after beating the couple in the couple in the radioactive desert....

I think the wording is pretty clear:

We must experiment more on the Wyrms! What do they eat? Why do they give Dragonblood? Try feeding the Wyrms in the Wyrm Pen and see what happens!

But, like FiatLux said, perhaps it could sound more important, less "see what happens" which sounds more optional.

As for killing the dragon, that does not stop the magic path at all (and actually requires a lot less resources - only one baby dragon to evolve into an adult dragon instead of 5). Some people might never realize there was another path to get to the magic island, but I'm okay with that as it's a fun boss fight. Players who cannot beat the dragon run away and do end up finding the negotiation path (although I do think I need the dragon to go back to sleep sooner).

To me then the 'We must experiment more on the Wyrms! What do they eat? Why do they give Dragonblood?' sound like a story-line statement (story filling)
And the 'Try feeding the Wyrms in the Wyrm Pen and see what happens!' sounds more like a suggestion (Try !) to me than an instruction - if an instruction it should say that I must do it (or maybe be part of the 'quests' in the quests log as to make clear that you *MUST* feed the darn Wyrms :spazwinky:  )

I'm changing the text to this:

We must experiment more on the Wyrms! What do they eat? Why do they give Dragonblood? We must feed the Wyrms in the Wyrm Pen to find out more about their evolution!

Is that clearer/less optional sounding? I could make it a quest, but it'd be a really simple one (literally just feed them).

To be honest then the "we" sounds , well , like 'we' not as 'I' , so kind of sounds like maybe the guy will be doing it for you.... (not trying to 'argue' , just trying to help)

I can change it to you, but then the alchemist sounds like he's ordering you around as his henchman... but that is what he's doing, so why not XD.

How does anyone have a quest in their quest log and not want to complete it? I even did the sushi one and I don't really bother with food.

Agree with Brukov here - making at a quest, even a simple one, could probably push a lot of people to do it even more than slight changes in wording - what speaks to some may make it hazier for the others (I, for instance, did not immediately recognize the hint to trigger for the witch tier II tome quest).

I don't believe "feeding the wyrms" shows up as an actual quest is the thing; iirc, you just have to try interacting with the pen and feeding the wyrms mostly through trial and error to figure out you can feed them.... iirc, it wasn't ever any indication that you should, or even could, feed the wyrms. Which was my "issue"; it's a little unintuitive to guess at trying the pen and finding out you even can feed the wyrms/any of the animals.

Maybe its changed since this was based on let's plays on YouTube from back in september/October. I just remember there was no indication that you should feed the wyrms, outside of a somewhat cryptic line from the alchemist that he wonders what they eat or something to that effect.

Edit: I mean to say even a quest popping up, telling the player that you want to make a cocoon out of the wyrm, once you have one in the pen initially, would probably help alot on that front. Again, I don't remember atm if there was a quest prompt indicating any of this.

I posted the line of dialogue above (and what I'm planning on editing it to). A long time ago, it was less clear, but both clearly say try feeding them in the wyrm pen. I might add a quest though...
