Evolution gem seeds

So after going though the madness of actually getting the 5 elements (twice) and getting my hands on an evoultion gem i noticed the game wants me to use it for a quest, however, I REALLY don't want to go through that maze again to get 5 more gems and then obtain the elements again. So dose the evolution gem seed do what i think it will (give me more evolution gems or shards or dose something diffrent from what im thinking of?

The evolution gem seed will create another evolution chamber - useful if you want to create multiple gems at the same time or in different places, but it doesn't give you more shards/gems. However, you can actually find evolution shards to mine - all on the second magic island where the evolution gems are needed. The elemental gem -> evolution shard conversion is just for players who want more gems than they strictly need.
