You need to block its attacks then hit it when it opens up its armor (just like the weaker one on the magic path). The autosuit is enough to kill it (if you have enough battery power), just don't let yourself get hit by any attacks because they do a lot of damage. The fight is designed to be hard.

Spirit Scythe is good for hitting it, but as said you need your block up all the time it's attacking.

Spirit Scythe? I never tried that! (or the bow either) Doesn't it drain your health, though?

It does, but if you're fighting the aliens you can probably afford a few dragonsblood or similar, thirty health lost is insignificant next to the damage the alien would do if it hit you. Since the alien only opens up for every three attacks it seems good to me to get the most effective hit in, and the scythe only takes about three hits, and since you're in the ship and there's nowhere to run range isn't a factor.

I checked and it doesn't matter what it's set to, aliens don't have any elemental weaknesses.

Fire tends to be very effective against them even though they don't have any elemental weaknesses. I tried the scythe myself, and it did work very well. My normal equipment for the fighters is a force shield (I think about 30-40 batteries is enough, but I have 90 in my inventory which is way more than enough) and a dragonsword. When boarding the larger ships, I use fire missiles, which take out an enemy in 3 hits (water missiles also for the cruisers, but not against the aliens), instead of the dragonsword. The reason I don't use them for the fighters is because the missiles are expensive to make, but they really help when fighting multiple at once.
