Many skills are a red herring and an egregious points sink, including some of the combat skills. Pugilism, Knife Fighting, Knife Throwing, Clip Pistol, and Rifle are all not worth pursuing. Brawling, on the other hand, is an absolute must-have skill, and the stat that effects accuracy in that is, I believe, Luck, not Strength or Dexterity. And there are some very unimportant non-combat skills.
One piece of advice: reroll characters until you get 4 rangers with Intelligence of at least 15 and reasonable Luck and Strength, and by reasonable I mean like ~12 or higher. Give all 4 rangers TWO ranks in Brawling to start, and then sell their clip pistols and use their Crowbars to brawl stuff. With Brawling, the number of attacks you get with each guy increases by +1 at every even numbered skill level in Brawling. So at level Brawling 2 you'll have a total of 2 attacks, at level 4 you'll have 3, etc. I can't remember if there's any advantage to using an Ax instead of a crowbar, but I used to sell all but one crowbar and buy everyone an ax with the money from selling the pistols. You eventually get SMGs, ARs, and Laser guns to shoot (energy Weapons is a skill you have to learn at the library in Las Vegas, but you need a minimum Int of 20 for that, if memory serves).
Thank you lmao, I just wanna be dumb and cheat, that's how I have fun :')
The problem is we don't WANT people who don't like RPGs playing RPGs. Then they start putting in their 2 cents, ruin the genre, then go back to Fortnite. Casuals killed Final Fantasy, most FF fans won't touch 15 or the remake. He should know that if he finds the combat taxing, he won't like the game, as it is one of its best aspects. You edit the save files, make the game boring and easy, then what are you left with? The terrible interface haha. It just sounds like the game isn't for him.
This is absurd gatekeeping nonsense. "Someone isn't playing a game the way I want them to, that will ruin video games!!" I'm sorry that you feel left behind because design conventions have changed over the last 35 years and players have different expectations but this is no way for an adult to behave.
And for the record, I'm a big fan of the original WL and Fallout 1. I'm also an adult with different priorities than I did when I first played those games.
It IS gatekeeping, but not nonsense. It's not that they aren't playing it the right way; they literally DON'T understand what genre it is and try to make the game play like games in other genres. It's a pet peeve for anyone with niche interests. I love tactical strategic roleplaying. If you are too old now to keep up, that's on you. But I still crave challenge.
I also hate when a great band becomes popular and then changes their sound to fit what mainstream fans want, and they get worse.
My brother in Christ, I have literally zero interest in changing the Wasteland RPG genre for anyone else. Do you think if you told me where a Save Game Editor (which I now believe doesn't exist anyways) could be found that I would suddenly start popularizing it? Do you think I have or crave that sort of influence? Do you think I have any desire to try and popularize the way I play a silly game so much so that it would change how future generations change it?
No, dude, I just wanna ♥♥♥♥ around- maybe that means I'm cheating myself of a good experience- ok? Let me ♥♥♥♥ myself over. Have I once in this conversation demanded you play the way I do?- No!
And even if I did want to some how undo this perceived bulwark against cheating and ruin the way the game is popularly played, do you seriously believe you have the ability to stop me- or anyone- by saying "no"? I'm sure someone far more determined than I could just create a Save Game editor and there'd be absolutely nothing you could do about it.
Stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ yourself like a baby; if you don't have an answer for me then just don't answer lmao
Go touch grass and stop being an absolute grouch
Idk what to tell you, cope I guess.
I didn't say "playing it the right way," I said "playing the game YOU want them to play." The only person here dictating how to play a game is you. Someone wanting a little help on a game is not infringing on your own enjoyment of a video game. Again, I'm sorry you feel left behind by video games and your favorite metal bands but you need to touch grass.
I genuinely hope someone straps you to a chair and forces your eyes open a la Clockwork Orange and makes you watch someone play your favorite RPG with a trainer and they have a great time.
I would break free of my bonds and strangle them with my bare hands while listening to the synthesizer sounds of Ludwig Von.
This is basically a beginner version of cheat engine

And this is a trainer. Fair warning, the trainer seems a little sketchy.

Finally, the tried and true cheat engine, the bane of incest products that have a 'holier than thou' complex.
