Suggestion ? Suggestions !
Hi Polytopians,

I've been playing this gem for 2 years now, mostly with groups of friends from 6 to 10 players and I wanted to share some ideas if this could help anyhow :)

I know some of theses suggestions have already been posted, even by younger-me but it's still one more vote in favor of them !

- Glory mode : I've always loved games with different ways to win so we don't always have to destroy everyone. Glory mode allows it, makes temples and gardens useful and makes the game more of a race. But I often feel 10 000pts is too short, especially on larger maps. Could it be a setting we can parameter in the game creation ? Like 10k / 15k / 20k ? And stop the game after the last player turn, so everybody played the same number of turns ?

To go further : Could we imagine other victory condition ?

Winner is the 1st to either :

- Reach XXX points - "Fame victory"
- Reach XXX stars in stock - "Economic victory"
- Build the 7 Monuments - "Cultural victory"
- Destroy all other Tribes/Control other Tribes Capitals - "Military victory"

If so, I feel the games won't be so mirrored depending on which victory type each player are targeting.

- Team mode : I know the Diplomacy update will bring something close to this but I'm talking about real teams, premade from beginning, and sharing victory together. They would benefit from peace treaty features : Can't attack and can't block movement of teammates. They would also share map vision. In Glory mode, they either sum up their score, or only the the lowest player score of each team is taken into account.

- Coop mode / Survival : It could be exciting to have 1 common special enemy that we must unite against. I can see it like we have 10-15 turns to develop and prepare our defences and then regular waves of AI ennemies, stronger and stronger, invade the map. The goal would be to survive the most turns possible. Enemies could be regular polytopian units (they would be the babarians invasions) coming from the edge of the map, or slow big monsters with thousands HP, comming out from sea , or from a big volcano in the middle of the map, or zombie invasion from the North, that convert unit they kill ... and this last option made me think we could even remove the "Coop" from the mode, and players will have to stop fighting each other and briefly ally for the duration of the wave or risk to be anihilated such as a famous show :p.

- And to finish a little add on already requested : game replay :)

Being able to pick the target in glory mode is something that really should be added in my opinion. I agree that glory games can feel too short. But I think the cultural victory you are suggesting is way too easy compared to the other conditions. I guess it can work for a separate gamemode, though.

Another wincons for separate gamemodes that I think would be cool are king of the hill and maybe regicide, like in age of empires. Especially king of the hill.

Fixed team modes should totally be added sometime, as they make the game easier to introduce to new people. Right now I have to stop the game early to avoid fighting my friends, which feels anticlimatic.

Being able to see replays also seems good. Coop seems very different from what the game currently is, though. But I must admit the zombies sounded fun.

About wincons, if all 4 would be implemented, then "Cultural victory" will be the reference, and the other wincons goals (score and stars) will have to be balanced according to it.
But I don't think Monuments are so easy, especially the explorer (well maybe not anymore with the Diplomacy update with Cloaks).

And yes, king of the hill would be great too, to ally against the stronger. There could be map related wincons, randomly picked on each game. (king of the hill, regicide, 1st to slay the big elder dragon...)

Coop could be a nice option to avoid fighting friends too. At the beginning, we used to play as team with my friends VS AI. Increasing the difficulty and number of bots. But as bots fight each other, it was always too easy.
But I admit this won't be an easy task to develop this.

Right, I forgot about how you pretty much have to win the game to unlock the eye of god. Nevermind my point about wonders. As long as players can choose the wincons for their game, it's fine.
